I find it quite fascinating how many people actually think solo training is pointless and that no skill could be developed in this way. These people couldn't be further wrong.
It makes sense why so many people would think this. The vast majority of martial arts and even Kali enthusiasts don't solo train nor do they know how.
Let's face it, most instructors don't know how to solo train in the manner to grow and develop skill. Most people's solo training is to maintain a particular level of memory retention.
I know this because most of my teachers in the many martial arts I've done never taught me how to solo train and didn't stress the importance of it. It was always, you need to come to class and train with partners.
Of course, nothing substitutes training with good, average and terrible training partners but, on the other side of the coin, nothing substitutes solo training.
With my Inner Triangle students, I'm going to be sharing exactly how I solo train. How I've developed methods for this do develop specifically your attributes to increase athleticism and mastery over your body, mind and weaponry.
I'm taking my exact personal solo training regimen for Kali, fitness and mindset and sharing this beginning January 2019. I get asked nearly every single day, "Paul, how did you get your movements to be so fluid and smooth?" Simple, the only answer is Solo Training but, doing it all a specific developed way.
Without proper solo training a Kali practitioner cannot and will not get the most optimization while training with partners. Instead you'll waste valuable partner time figuring out coordination, striking mechanics and patterns which should already be achieved through solo practice so that in partner training you can work on what actually matters with another human being which is the adjustments of range, timing and control of momentum.
Without proper solo training you will spend more time on figuring out how you're supposed to move instead of working application of strategy and tactics within real time and pressure, which is what partner training is supposed to be, NOT clicking sticks practicing the pattern of Heaven Six.
Those who don't understand this or refuse to understand this will always lack in their development of skills.
